Music

This music video is by the comedy rap group Goldie Lookin Chain, who come from Newport Gwent, the city I was born in. Their music generally makes fun of all things British, for example the Chav culture and "Gangsta" rap,  consumerism, and everyday life in Wales and Newport.

The song is about a small town in South Wales called Cwmbran, which is a small town that was built in 1949 to accommodate the workers at the coalfields in the area. Since the coalfields no longer operate, the main industries in the town of 50,000 inhabitants have become Burton Food's, which makes Wagon Wheels and Jammy Dodger biscuits (two of my favorite brands!), Contour Aerospace who make aircraft seats and two breweries Cottage Spring Brewery and the Cwmbrân Brewery.

This is a beautifully shot experimental film by Leonardo Dalessandri, and a lovely song too! Check out his page on Vimeo here for more interesting work.

A classic song, and one of my personal favourites!

Jimi Hendrix lyrics:

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I weve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin
And the wind began to howl
Hey Oh

All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah Ooh baby
All along the watchtower

Jingle bells

A traditional Christmas song from the UK. On Christmas Eve it is traditional for carol singers to visit people's houses and sing Christmas songs such as this one.
